I have a 1993 P MS70 Silver Eagle, however it was SGS certified and I have heard that is not a great thing. I did not pay much over spot for it, but I was curious if anyone could give me a good starting value for it? I dod not have an image available right now.
I prefer silver eagles and junk silver mostly. Too poor for gold right now.
Thanks!

I'd pay $45 tops, but that's just me :)

Thanks 135 -
I was just about to post that I paid $49.00 so not too bad. It was the SGS that concerned me. I also got a 2009 Initial Mintage Silver Eagle MS69. I think I paid $55 for it.

I'd personally stay far away from that SGS dealer guy.
His coins are ALWAYS grossly over-graded and almost always overpriced.

There is one good thing about SGS ... if you're running out of space for your collection/stack, with basement slabbers such as them you can always create more - just crack a coin out of a completely worthless basement slab that will actually inhibit resale, stick it in a mylar or similar and voila instant extra storage space Norm

Pull it out of the SGS slab and put it in an Air-Tite to instantly increase its value!

If you really want to know its value send it in to ANACS, let them grade it. IF by chance it grades at 70 its worth more than 50 bucks. granted, that would be the first time I ever saw an SGS 70 actually grade 70 elsewhere.

I wouldn't pay any more than bullion value. However having said that, sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. If it looks great, send it to anacs or NCG.

It does look pretty good. At least as good as a few other better rated ones that are MS68-69 that I have. That is why I took it. I just started worrying about the SGS. Thanks for all the help.

Yeah I also heard SGS wasn't that good.
