I have a 84 and a 97 morgan, both have black toning but have next to 0 wear, nicks or rub down. Are they melt value or are they worth more?

Actually that's more along the lines of what
a lot of morgans should look like if they had been
laying around for years and not out in circulation
much if any. Yours would seem to be valued at between
5 to 10 dollars above current silver melt value.
Just about any morgan unless worn pretty much smooth etc.
would bring a premium above just melt value.

Personally, I think you could get high $40s for the 1897 and maybe high $30s for the 1884 (little more worn and has distracting mark on Obv). Of course, that is more retail then anything else.

I agree with what is previously stated, also that 1884 appears to have a bit of a rim ding/issue on the reverse at one o'clock.

From the photo's I would put the grade at AU-55 on both. The hair lock right above the eye looks to have some ware on both. The hair above the ear is also flat but that could be from the die state or just a weak strike.

Au coins the 97 about AU55, and they do look like they have been laying around for many years, appears to be original toning

Yeah these two where just in a box sense either the 50s or the 60s. same with a 1949-d frankin that might be fbl. They are my grandmas and she said shes just been saving a bunch of coins for us grandkids sense the war lol. So atleast sense the 60sish they are unc but before then they saw some light wear I would guess.

I just noticed big die cracks on the 1984. You cannot make it all out because of my crappy pic.

But it gos from the you in united to the O in One.

Then a little over it continues for a long ways at the bottom of the D in dollar to the A.

Then another larger crack gos from the are in dollar to the star next to it.

In the pic you can only really make out the first one I described, but the others are there and are not scratches. Is this normal? Or is having nearly the entire bottom of the eagle side cracked, fairly unique?

P.S once I get a better cam setup ill take pics to show stuff more clearly :)

Chris, try to post larger photos and crop the area you are speaking about if you could. The small photos give me no clue, it almost like trying to ID a E-Bay coin "that is almost never easy"
