ok I just talked to my sister and she said she has this coin on layaway for me and as promised here is a link to the coin. As you all know this dealer is very tough on his coins so I think the grades given in this thread are probably close http://www.harlanjberk.com/unitedst...s&linenum=12

when you lay a coin away you pay part of it now and part of it for the next few months until it is paid for, then they send you the item
scoutjim99, I have purchased many coins from HJB and I have never been disappointed. I am not sure what you mean when you say you are worried about it but I am sure the others will verify that he definately doesn't doctor any photo's and most certainly states any and all problems that can be seen with a 30x microscope

Not to worry, in my opinion. Harlan Berk is as good as it gets in the industry for fairly representing their coins, and for sound business practices. I will believe a grade from Harlan Berk exactly as if it were from PCGS or NGC, and possibly moreso as HJB has not forgotten what gave them their superior reputation.

I have seen HJB state problems on a coin like "light cleaning" when one of the top 3 missed it when they were grading the coin, so they definately state each and every problem they think the coin may have, and if they say something is lightly done you probably wouldn't be able to see it with a loupe. He is also pretty conservative on his grading, I don't remember ever hearing of a coin grading lower than they say it is but have definately seen some upgrade

HJB uses a scanner for his pictures so its not like a camera but he definately doesn't doctor up his pics or anything. I am showing his pics compared to the ones I took of the coin, its the same coin just mine was taken with my digital camera with the flash on (which I usually never use) Theirs Mine

I guess I dont get the point of the pic verses the scanner Images ,, which one is a true representation of the coin ?
and why the comparison to prove that HJB does not doctor His Images ?

there isn't any reason, just showing his compared to mine. Both are pretty good representations of the coin and I was just making a statement to scoutjim about his comment that the coin looked to good. I also noticed that I had put Liberty Seated dollar in the title when in fact this is a Half dollar

The ding on the shield is much more evident on the Photo than on the scan.

heck I think my daughter may have put that there when she dropped the coin and it hit the edge of the desk. And I know there are differences thats why I posted a theirs and mine picture to show the differences but to also show that there isn't a whole lot of difference. Anyone with common sense would know a scanned picture is going to be different than a photo taken with a camera, but they both can still give an accurate representation of the coin you just have to know how to judge the differences
