vg 8 possibly fine 12 is what id rate it.

I'd call it VG-8 or VG-10.

VG-10 with a possible F-12 if there's some decent horn showing. I can't tell because of the glare on that area of the buff's head. The obverse looks really nice.

I think this is actually more F+/VF; the horn is probably clearer in hand than the photo IMO.
