I like it. Good original color. Probably a VF-25, but one that might get more money than it's greysheet price due to the color and demand for nice 08-S. I'm assuming the entire ribbon band is there, as I've seen from my own pics of IHC that they tend to disappear in photographs. If not, probably an F-15, but one I'd love to have Edited by hesgut

Based on LIBERTY, I would grade it an F15, but there may be more detail in-hand.

Thanks for the opinions, I was thinking between F-12 and F-15. Thanks Dave, I appreciate the condolences! Reality still hasn't quite sunk in, but I know he is in a better place. We used to always chat about coins, though he was more interested in stamps. He had quite an extensive coin collection/accumulation, mostly bullion and stuff that I will sell for my mom. But he did have a partial indian/buffalo head nickel set, and several gold half eagles, which I will probably be able to keep as part of my collection. This is one of the nicer ones from His IHC set, and definitely one that I need. He also had this really cool "coin cube" that he carved out of wood as a coin display for some silver coins. I will photograph that. |

The bottom of the headband is pretty strong but the overall wear and weaker LIBERTY would keep it in the F range. It would more than likely market grade higher, especially with PCGS.

John, I would imagine this coin would be worth a lot more because of sentimental reasons.
It was nice you had the hobbies in common..
I was thinking Fine grade myself.

I'll photograph the coin cube and some of his other material in the next few days. :-) Anyways, I think this 08-s is a perfect match for my 09-s.   |
