I just checked the US Mint website and found out that All of the San Francisco Mint Commemorative Coins are SOLD OUT. This includes the Gold Piece and the Silver Dollar. Both Versions of Each. Uncirculated and Proof are sold out.
It was kind of funny, There has been a statement on the mint's website stating that the SF commemorative coins will stop being sold after 5pm yesterday. I checked the mint's site after 6pm and I still could have placed an order. Also the Legacy set is included as being sold out, since it contains the SF proof silver dollar.
The mint had to stop selling all options of the SF commemorative on December 15, 2006, even if they didn't sell out. This was part of the legislation that authorized the mint to create the SF commemorative. As far as I know the only options that had a sell out before the 15th was the American Legacy, yet the mint was still taking orders.
