My coin photography skills are not the greatest, but I am slowly learning. Please have a look at this newly acquired 1899-O Morgan and give me your thoughts. She's going in the Dansco album tomorrow. Thanks in advance - I value all opinions.

Looks fantastic except for that long scratch across Liberty's face.
I will say MS-63

Exceptionally strong strike for a Nawlins minted Morgan. It would be at least a MS65 IMO, but that extensive scratch on the cheek will probably drag it done some. I yield to the pros for an overall grade on this one. It really is a frosty beauty.. PG

I was thinking much the same. I took her out into natural light for a closer look, and the scratch across the cheek does not seem nearly as noticeable (to my admittedly untrained) old eyes. She has some great luster, and the strong strike had me leaning toward MS-65......still, I'll defer judgement until we hear from some of the members with more experience at this grading game.

I would go MS-64 if it wasn't for that scratch. In the pics the scratch looks pretty distracting so I would probably take off a 1-1.5 points for that.

I'll say 64 if that mark across the cheek is less distracting under normal light.

NGC slabbed at MS-65. I paid $180, NGC says it's worth $237. Maybe not the greatest coin deal, but I don't believe I overpaid.
I carefully liberated her from the slab. She's going into the Dansco.

Wow I hope that scratch didn't happen after it was broken out of the slab. Do you have any "before" pictures w/ coin in slab?

Quote: Wow I hope that scratch didn't happen after it was broken out of the slab. Nope. It was there when it was graded. I was careful liberate her gently, using white cotton gloves. There was no contact with the coin. She went in the album today, and is now resting comfortably in the safe deposit box.
