Large Cent Question. Braided Or Coronet?

LTMets44 Pillar of the Community United States 580 Posts	Posted 10/02/2011 11:07 pm I need some help. I bought a 1838 "Coronet Hair" Large cent but I'm confused. I have a few pictures below to explain. I know that this is a Coronet (1816 - 1839) and I know this is a Braided (1839-1857) But what is this? It was advertised as a Coronet Hair and the date matches. But the beads in the hair looks like the Braided Hair. Please help. Thanks in advance. Report this Post to the Staff

matthewpj73 Valued Member United States 187 Posts	Posted 10/02/2011 11:23 pm 1835-1839 coronets are known as a "transitional" design...you can read about it in the history section of the site...your coin is correct design for the date and is identified as a Coronet. Report this Post to the Staff
