After searching through 21000+ nickels in the last year I finally found a 1990 BB. It's not in great shape as such the search continues for a suitable BB for the keeper collection.

Nice find RogerD! That's one of the nicest BB's I've seen to date...the die polishing extends to the neck as well as the belly

Just found one of these last week roll hunting. It was a great surprise.

@RogerD: Congrats! I was mid-box when you posted your BB, and I was fortunate enough to find my second BB in that box! I'll post my two examples when I get a chance.

@Papeldog I figure they are fairly rare, my eyes have crossed so many times trying to find this coin I'm surprised that I can see straight.

@LaureateBust I've never searched a box, only rolls from the bank, so the likelihood of finding one in great condition from circulation is not good for me. This coin matches Scissels picture of his coin, anything less than that I would throw back into circulation.

But....

Oh, by box I mean a circulated box from the bank (50 customer wrapped rolls). I would say both of mine are EF, but I'm going from memory. I'll post pics later.

OK, I may have been a bit generous with EF in remembering how these looked. Here is my newest BB and a closeup, and at the end is my first BB.

Your 1st BB is nice! The last one you found is in about the same condition as mine. You must have put in a lot of time searching.

@RogerD: I have searched through 7 boxes of nickels so far (350 rolls) to find 2 BBs. Nickels so far account for 20% of my searched coin, with pennies in the lead at about 50%.

@dialog_gvf: Now that is a nice BB!

Right there is the reason to purchase one rather than search, that's a beautiful coin dialog_gvf.

I just found 3 more bare belly's today!! Is this pure luck or are they fairly common?

I'd say you did well to find three in a day unless you went through fifteen boxes of nickels to find them! Charlton 67th Ed. has the MS-64 price at $30 ($20 for the standard 1990 nickel); I've seen circulated examples of the 1990 BB sell for this much on ebay. Trends doesn't seem to price this variety, judging by the latest modern decimals listings.

I just started searching for these. I have gone through 6 boxes total. The last 3 were in the same box!!
