1904-O has some terrible strike issues. I think MS62 for this one.

Thank you for all the opinions guys and gals.. I do appreciate it.. I forgot that the "o" strikes were graded a bit more on the lenient side if you will do to their weak strikes.

I will be throwing up quite a few more in this section and would really like to learn as much as possible about grading them as well as VAM attribution.. I am constantly reading but sometimes its easier to understand when pointed out from a different persons standpoint rather then a book when it comes to identification markers and so on.. thanks again.

Ok, I see the weak strike now. Must've just fooled my eyes.

I wouldn't be surprised if I thought this one Mint State in-hand. It's a classic weak New Orleans strike. The obverse toning looks recent; maybe the result of a dip recovery.

I'm not saying its not possible but I know this coins history as it sat in my grandfathers Whitman folder for the last 30 yrs and I know he never cleaned any coins..hell not even an acetone dip.. not to say it wasn't done before he got it but I know how long it sat while he had it is all.

Could very well be MS, they are notorious for weak strikes. Just as contrast here's my graded MS63 04-O.

I've got a VAM 4B in mint state that is just as flat as the OP coin. I've even seen worse than this one.

That's actually a little worse than what I'm remembering. That reverse is dismal...
