Had to add many pages to my Albums due to all the different types of 2009's. Then modify since only clad nomenclature available with Whitman's press on letters/numbers sheets.

I started to, or should I say attempted to, many years back. I got back as far as 1938 ( up to 1958 in the Wheat reverse, current on the Memorials)). I only paused because where I live full red coins don't seem to hold up over the years due to the environment. On the east coast, far enough inland from the ocean I might add. Despite housed in Air-tite ring holders they seem to have mellowed a bit from when purchased. Deeper in color, getting closer to red-brown. Just something to keep in mind when adding red coins to your collection.

LOL ... a full red Lincoln set .... the stuff dreams are made of!

I am in no way trying to convince myself that I wouldn't love a full red set...

BUT...

One of the things I strived for and love so much about my collection is the ombre effect of the older dates going from brown to younger blazing copper to modern alloy— which is also the reason why I love non slabbed coins so they flow so nicely through the page of my Dansco.

Now with that said... I am totally on the hunt for upgrades, and in my mind (a scary place)... I feel like when I finally acquire that last and only empty spot for ... you guessed it ... the 09 S VDB (which id love to be around a MS 64 RD or a MS 65 RB) I'll need to take that coin into account for gradually getting redder as they get more modern, if that makes sense... so in other words my brownest coin should be my 1909-VDB (which I'll attach a photo of so you can see what I mean).

So in conclusion, yes it's possible.... yes it's beyond expensive... no you're never done upgrading.

As a side note... has anyone tried actually sealing their collection with a foodsaver (told you my mind is a scary place LOL)... I agree that free radicals and oxidation are a huge issue with maintaining a red set. I mean just ask lady liberty ....

Sometimes I wonder if I should just seal my Dansco in a foodsaver bag

I did it several years ago when my collection was inactive and in long-term storage with my parents, while I was out of the country.

You could also lacquer the coins like in old times. Even with the older lacquers the coins seemed to be pretty well preserved in full red state. Synthetic lacquers nowadays might be even better with regard to longevity and inertness.

It just occurred to me that if you have a set of "ALL" BU Red you're in a really good place. Lol
