I wanted to start either a set on Indian Head cents, or Buffalo nickels. I choose the IHC primarily because my knowledge of Buffalo's was like yours. I love them, but didn't know much about them. Good Luck on sorting it all out. Keep us posted!!

I would go with #2 Roosevelt dimes .A Ch.Bu set won't be expensive at all .

So your goal is for complete sets, correct? At the moment, I'm focused on the same type of thing.... Sets I can reasonably complete in acceptable condition, within my budget. You mention Mercury's. Is the 16-D doable for you? Since you like the cents so much, I think the IHC would be a logical choice. Not sure about all the varieties or the 1877 though. (edit) Again if you like complete sets in general, I just finished a circulated Franklin set. Very doable.

You could get a good start on Mercury dimes and get anything you need upgraded at the same time for not much above spot. That would be my Recommendation.

@joeturbo, I didn't know that you still hung out here. I wanted to specifically thank you for starting up one of CCF's longest running and most successful threads (post a counterstamp): http://goccf.com/t/126486Nice work! As far as your question for this thread, I'd suggest that you just shift back one series and go for the Indian's. As you surely know, there are a couple tough ones in there, but (depending on your budget) nothing is an absolute stopper.

Mercury dimes are a personal favorite of mine. The design is gorgeous and most dates are very attainable without spending a fortune.

I would second that a circulated Franklin set is doable. Now, if your pocketbook can afford it, then the other sets mentioned can be done as well.
