1804? What Is It? - Coin Community Forum

genuinegen New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 01/10/2007 3:52 pm I can not find out any infomation about what this coin is - it is very small. I have not seen a coin this size before in any denomination or year whether it be real, fake or reprint (although it does not say copy or reprint on the coin itself) any ideas? biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 01/10/2007 4:20 pm It is a reproduction- more than likely of an 1804 dollar. The rims and design are a dead giveaway that it is a repro. Copies from before the 50s or 60s werent required to be stamped "COPY". Also, since you said that it doesn't match the size of any real coin, it could be considered a fantasy piece(something that never existed) and that would exclude it from being stamped "COPY". genuinegen New Member United States 5 Posts	Posted 01/10/2007 4:55 pm I assumed based upon the size it was a repro but couldnt even find any of those. Being that is may be from before the 60s helps. The coin is smaller than a dime in size. Thanks for the info.... Report this Post to the Staff

Of course, the problem is that no Half Dimes were made with the 1804 date. It could have possibly been made as an 1804 half-dime fantasy piece Report this Post to the Staff
