My wife found an old peanut can full of coins from my Navy days. I used to keep most of my coins from the country I was visiting rather than turn them back in for U.S. currency. Over the years I kept other interesting coins....to the point where I just forgot about even having them. As I was going through all the coins I noticed an old Merc lying in the bottom. I'm thinking to myself "be a 16-D". I save it for the last to check out, lol. It wasnt a 16-D but it was kinda cool that I had it all these years and didnt remember....

Nice, only 10.4 million minted(compared to the 1939 D with 24 million).

The coin is filthy and might be a candidate for experimentation with coin cleaning products. It's not worth much.

Actually, I notice what looks like a couple of large die cracks on the obverse, in front of and behind the neck? Looks more like a clash, but doesn't match the reverse. And there seems to be a large crack on the reverse, going from the branch to the E in America.
