You ancient guys/gals seem to be having a blast, so I took the plunge. Traded some war nics for this piece. My buddy hasn't a clue, as he's not into them. A little help? Also, does this need cleaning, or let it be? How do you go about it?

I moved this to the 'Ancient, Greek, and Roman Coins' forum so a more focused audience can see it.

Congrats on your first ancient, now your hooked. It's a nice little coin which Jessvc1 IDed. I would leave it as is and not try to clean it.

jefferson War Nickels are one of my favorite us nickel types I like the mint mark placed over the montecillo, added with a little silver. Now you have a little variety and thats a nice coin you have there with lots of details. Victoria reverses on ancients are also some of my favorite ancient reverse designs.
