But when I placed it under my microscope, it appears to have more than just 'edge doubling'. You opinions are much appreciated! Dave42 Pillar of the Community United States 571 Posts	Posted 09/10/2012 09:17 am Notice especially on the mint mark, how the flat shelf-like doubling takes away from the raised part of the mint mark, leaving just a thin sliver of the mint mark. That is a sure sign of Machine Doubling. On a true hub-doubled coin, there would be additional raised portions of the date, and not smooshed down shelves. Also, the mint mark would not be doubled on a pre-1990 doubled-die coin, as the mint mark was added to the dies by hand previous to 1990. (Unless of course it was a repunched mint mark, but that's a different story..) Dave Report this Post to the Staff
