1889 Indian Head Cent / IHC Has Some Strange Edges On The Devices.

Those raised ridges along the date and devices are the "smoking gun" of a harshly whizzed coin--definitely not as struck. The date was really manhandled--it looks 'scooped out'. beaglebailey Pillar of the Community United States 716 Posts	Posted 03/21/2014 3:11 pm To me, whizzing implies the use of a real fine wire brush attached to some type of rotary tool where you won't see regular parallel scratches. There might be hairline circular scratches that can be concealed or very difficult to see in a photo or the scratches might be buffed out. I think the above coin is a good example.
