Was just looking for a (misplaced) coin from Siena from the early 15th century when I stumbled across this:

Puzzle-Time---What-Is-This? Puzzle-Time---What-Is-This?

Anyone venture a guess?

Note to 'Ancientnoob': Even though it was out of sight for some time, you cannot have it.

This is not very specific, I know: an Abbasid AE fals.

Year, ruler, etc. I don't know...

Yes, it does have some similarities with Abassid coinage.
But if it were that easy, I wouldn't have posted it as a puzzle.

If I give a hint, it will be quite trivial - let's see if there are any others, who want to venture a guess.

But, thumbs up to immediately recognise what could be considered the generic type (or one of them).

I think I remember seeing a few similar coins in another thread, so I'll answer based on that: I'm guessing that it's Hungary.

I've seen these described as "pseudo-islmaic" or something like that. it's a far cry from the usual bela iii coins with virgin on them. what's the story behind this coin, does anyone know?
