The first Hen.VIII coin I ever found,and although I've found several since this still remains my best portrait of that famous monarch. Henry VIII 2nd coinage halfgroat of Canterbury. Archiepiscopal issue of William Warham.1526-1532,20mm dia. Spink 2343; North 1802

Yes medieval all,the one in the avatar is an Iceni quarter stater,irstead type,I've had two of these,but the other one isn't as round as this one but Has much better gold content.

It is a colour photo ! It's a gold coin but with a lot of copper added,it does looks better in the hand,I can see why you thought it wasn't in colour,here's the two together.

Very nice examples and top finds. My impression was that your avatar was a silver coin, they can develop such a tone. Perhaps use a filter which makes it clear that it is gold.

Man, I swear if I lived in Europe I would be out there everyday in waders metal detecting. You found some real treasures my friend. I wish someone had dropped something on this side of the pond.
