The US Buffalo Nickel's Buffalo

I read that when the Indian Head quarter eagle and half eagle were minted the public panned the coin because they thought that recessed image would carry germs. I do remember collecting Buffalo nickels as a kid and half of them the dates were worn off. Really fine Buffalo nickels are a sight to see. So much detail is lost if the coin was heavily used as many were because a nickel could buy a lot in 1920. I like the coins of the early 20th century to include Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes, SLQ's and LWH dollars. They all had classic designs. Completing a set of Buffalo's and Mercury dimes seems an obvious choice but I have been distracted by Morgans for some reason. I guess being frustrated by LSQ's is one reason. I resent paying $500 for a worn quarter that just barely has a visible date. I only have five left but these are all vulnerable dates with the lowest mintage. It will cost me three times what I spent on all the other coins combined to finish the set.
