I have a friend at work whose father recently passed. He came in today with some coins that his father inherited from his Dad (my friends grandfather). I will be posting some of the other coins as well.

Two of these coins are California gold fractionals? I have read about them, but never seen them. I am hoping someone here can give me some info on the coins so I can pass it on to him.
The coins are tiny, the first one I am posting is 1 cm in dia, and very thin. The 2nd is 1.2 cm in dia, and neither one would register on my cheap scales. The 2 together registered as .01 oz.

Any help is appreciated!

You could call them 'fake', but more accurately termed
'jewelry fantasy', looking somewhat similar to the genuine.
Could be made of a gold alloy, but more probably gold plated brass.

Also, if you search "California gold" on the CCF website, you will find many good threads on this subject.

Those were both minted by Nathan Joseph circa 1905-1915, minted in 10-12k gold. These are fairly commmon and in that condition maybe $30 or less.
