Hello all: My brother put me onto this site; he's a dirt-fisher and all-around coin afficionado. I have a 1979 P wide rim SBA, but we think the rim (the 11-sided polygon) also looks like double-struck. There is a two-step look to it, instead of one edge. Is this a thing? Or do all wide-rims have this feature? Thanks. |

Welcome filkambel! Please post a picture of your coin. Your description of steps sounds like Machine Doubling, which would not add a premium to the coin. I get fooled a bit with Machine Doubling versus doubled dies too -- I pulled three Kennedy halves last night with MD. |

SHAFTA, I see that the thread is five and a half years old, but I was responding to an inquiry posed two hours ago. I believe a mod will eventually split that post and replies off into a separate thread.
