I got this lot at an auction mainly for the headless Medusa coin but am not familiar with all of the other coins.

I know there is also a Cilicia coin with the head of Athena and Nike on the reverse.

There is also a silver Persian coin from the time of Darius.

The other coins I could use help identifying.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks~

Great group! Most of these are identifiable, but it would help if you would post one or two at a time instead of the whole lot.

The big bronze in the middle (from Amisos, Pontos, c. 85-65 BC) with Athena obverse and Perseus reverse, is particularly impressive. Hopefully it's authentic:

Also, the following type is from Tarsos, Cilicia, 164 BC and later, with Tyche obverse and seated Zeus reverse.

And this is from Amisos: Mithradates VI, c. 85-65 BC, with Dionysos obv., and cista mystica rev.:

The following is Seleukid, with the Greek for Antiochos visible in the reverse legend. Apollo/tripod. Perhaps Antiochos II Theos, 261-246 BC:

Left photo in the middle of the top row of three looks like a Lydia under Persian rule, Darius Siglos. Darius kneeling with bow / incuse rectangle.

Excellent group. As Bob pointed out it's best to post one or two coins at a time.

I was also able to identify

CILICIA, Elaiussa Sebaste~1st century BC Zeus obverse and Nike reverse coin.

Macedonian Kingdom, Phillip II 339-336 BC Apollo obverse and King on Horse reverse

SELEUCUS II - KALLINIKOS, 246-226 B.C. Bronze, Athena in Attic helmet obverse and standing Apollo reverse.

Cilicia, Seleucia Head of Athena obverse and walking Nike on the reverse.

I am working on the rest.

ONe of the coins in the lower left has a right facing Pegasus on the reverse does it not?

Bob L. Are the Athena/Perseus coins often faked? I hope it's authentic, too.

Not that I know of. I think your coin is probably authentic. The obverse is one of the best I've seen for the type. It's a great example. There are a few of these issues posted in this thread: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/an...club.244466/

Regarding your question about the Pegasos: are you referring to the Lampsakos coin I i.d.'ed above, or another? This is the difficulty with attributing coins from a large group picture like this. It gets confusing, especially when the placement of some of the coins shifts a bit between the obverse and reverse shots.

Bob L- Yes sorry I meant the Lampsakos coin. If the rest of the coins are not identified now I will post pictures again when I have them in hand. Thanks again for the help I really appreciate it.
