Seems to be pretty common among 1950s cents. Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 05/23/2018 09:22 am Since the mid 19th century all the dies come from a single Master hub that contained all the design and inscriptions (except the date which wasn't added to the hub unto the early 20th century) So if there was a mis-spelling ALL of the coins of that denomination would have the same mis-spelling that year. The only case I can think of where that happened was I believe the Type 1 double eagle where Liberty on the coronet was spelled LLBERTY. On some dies this was hand corrected but the lower right serif of the second L is often still visible. That master hub was used for some years. The traces of the second L can be seen on this 1850. You may have to enlarge the image. The serif of the L can bee seen running into the serif of the B. Edited by Conder101 05/23/2018 09:29 am Report this Post to the Staff
