I know this was damaged.
I'm just wondering why it looks bronze/gold colored where it was hit?
Any ideas?

Rest in Peace

It is a fuse box cent. That is the arching of the terminals in a screw-in type fuse box. We put copper cents in there when the fuse blew, that brass is the bottom of the fuse.

Excellent synopsis! I remember hearing about that when I was a kid. It was always equated with a fire hazard.

I never would have put two-and-two together on this one. Nice explanation!

Can you imagine if it was an S VDB? Hey, dad put the lights on with a 1909 S VDB!

A great numismatic trivia question: How do you put the light on was a copper cent?
