the 1989 seems to exhibit a large die crack if nothing else...the 1955 variety is unknown to me...

The 1989 D cent shows Die Deterioration Doubling and Split Plate Doubling on the mint mark. The 1955 D Wheat cent shows pushed over metal. http://www.error-ref.com/split-plate-doubling/

The 1989-D has DDD and split plating doubling. The 1955 exhibits PMD and Machine Doubling.
