Counting/wrapping machine damage. They all hit the date in the same place, the last digit, I've seen this exact damage before of all different dates. Here's one with the same damage on the 1... Here's one with the last digit completely ripped off by the wrapping machine...

Quote: Would it be possible to have a date error from different mints? Although very unlikely odds to find these in the same batch, but they are as mostly agree damage. I think perhaps do to those raised letters and digits in the dates on older coins seem to have had higher and balder devices and more prone to get hit during bagging and transporting and as mentioned that is one common area for this type damage to occur, the digit has taken a hit and the metal has been pushed over.

Quote: I'll go with wrapping machine damage Mark, that's a plausible scenario, but I am just having a hard time with that since there are no other signs of damage seen anywhere else on the coin and usually the Wrapping Machine Damage is NOT confined to just One tiny area. TMHO

Could they have been through a very old vending machine, causing this damage on the end of the digits?

OK - then it must be Santa's Elves damaging these cents when they're not building toys. Oh, and congrats David on 14,000 posts. I tried sending a PM to you but my PM option STILL must not be working.

Well something likes to move the last number in the date. I know @spruett001 has posted a few like these also awhile ago.

So it's likely mechanical damage?
