rmsexauer Valued Member United States 234 Posts	Posted 08/27/2019 8:39 pm Hello everyone.. I am trying to find out if US Mint medals fall under the normal orientation guidelines for coins. If I am looking at the obverse and flip the medal should it be facing up as a normal US Mint coin? Thank you in advance for any input. Report this Post to the Staff

kanga Pillar of the Community United States 5825 Posts	Posted 08/27/2019 9:21 pm Good question. A true medal like military awards have "medal turn", i.e., top is up when turned sideways. Don't know about non-military medals. Probably have to surf them up to see what the specs are. Report this Post to the Staff

When the sides are opposite, that's "coin alignment." So, I assume, pieces considered medals should have both sides facing the same. I'm not sure how true that is, though, in practice. moxking Rest in Peace United States 17900 Posts	Posted 08/28/2019 11:48 am I've purchased a couple recent medals that I include in my modern commemorative set (I know, I know - not the same thing). There have been a few of the silver ounce medals with really lovely designs. When you can get them in TPG 70 for less than double silver, why not? Report this Post to the Staff
