Do you think these countermarks have any significance? There appears to be a "GC" inscribed in written capital letters underneath.

Looks like someone has scratched the initials GC and then counterpunched over it.
Hard to say what the initials represent.It could be a company or a store.
The Q is punched upside down so it might read ECQ
It would be considered a damaged coin although there are counterstamp collectors.
