Does the zero beside the 7 look low, or is it the 0 and the 7 that are low?

Why would anyone make a fake for that year?

They aren't doing it for a scarce date or collectors; they produce them at less than 25 cents worth of time/material and get back $2. It's a great profit margin.

Well, they do have up until 2012 from 1996 before the security feature becomes a probable issue for whoever is making them, maybe they felt they over used the previous dates and started picking new ones, they are clearly only doing it for profit.

While ARP can remove the pre-2012 coins, the fakes will continue to be injected into circulation.

Just like the round Pound coins in UK Canada needs to demonetize all non-security Toonies.

Although the Queens effigy has remained unchanged since 2003, I did notice the queens face looked different starting in 2015. (As if the Queen got a cosmetic face-lift; her face looked fatter and hair fuller between 2003 and 2014)

Has anyone else noticed this?

I also noticed the 1996-2007 counterfeits use the post-2015 face-lift Queen effigies.

demonetizing 'pre security' coins won't have any effect.

honestly the counterfeiters could probably make a better quality coin than the mint is spitting out these days.

my staff take a quick look at $50s and $100s, but NO ONE is looking at $2 coins and checking for security features... just sayin'
