Picked up a 50 cents which is actually a much harder denomination to find compared to the other denominations. This would be the third province that I have, Yunnan being the easiest followed by Kwangtung. The rest are hard.

Technical weight of this is meant to be 13.5g and 33mm. I believe that coins from this era do have quality control issues so there are small variations in weight.

Coin in doubt is in top left.

Weight of the 5 are as follow:

Hupeh (top left): 12.55g
Hupeh (top right): 13.49g
Kwangtung: 13.40g
Yunnan (left): 13.54g
Yunnan (right): 13.27g

Edge does seem to be odd. The questionable coin is also 1mm smaller which can be seen when I held the coins on a flat surface. These are arranged by the order mentioned.

Thoughts?

@gx, I would recommend doing a specific gravity test or other non-destructive test for determining the alloy.
