Need your help. I am unable to locate any information to identify this token. Is it silver or silver plated? Do you know any information about it? The papal tiara is a rather unique design, sort of like a multi-layer crown. It's a beautiful piece, would like to know more about it. Maybe "Sede Vacante", vacant seat commemorative?

That linked medal is very close @drp, but the rev doesn't have the border writing like the OP's example.

Edited: I found a more similar one over at (168) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed com, but can't post the link here on CCF. Here is the description:

Quote:
General Description : The most respected of the ecclesiastical symbols, the tiara, or trigreno, is also a symbol of the pope's authority over the Church. No one knows for certain when the tiara originated, and it has undergone many changes since it first appeared at the Papal Court.
Material: Silver

This one seems like a better match (and it is silver), but I'm interested to see what others think.

Hmmm, I googled that quote and it does seem a better fit.

Thank you for the updates. Given your posted description, I found the site referenced. Appears to be silver.

Also, I have found a photo of the tiara. "The Napoleon Tiara presented to pope Pius VII" matches this design. Just wanted to add this info. Thanks for the replies.
