Hello coin community,

This is my first post in the forum, thanks so much for creating a great environment to foster curiosity about coin collecting. My question is about a coin 1896 O morgan XF coin that I came across and noticed something unusual about the mint mark. It appears to be a O over S mint mark, but I have not found any other examples of this online. Likely the O mint mark has some post mint damage, but I am curious about inside the O where there appears to be clear S shape that could be mint mark. Attached is a picture, please let me know what you think.

Thanks,
MorganMan999

IMO it appears to be post mint damage. Took a hit diagonally across the O mintmark.

@91o_collector thanks for your reply! I definitely agree there is post mint damage on the O itself, but I see something inside the O that looks like S mint mark to me. Wondering if anyone else sees it that way.

The "O" is pummeled by another coin a stated above. No bueno on a O/S.
