Good morning

Thank you Dearborn for your feedback totally appreciated. Thank you for the welcomes - glad to be here!

I have another 2009D Formative Years, am I really seeing doubling or is this considered die abrasion?

I see this allot and for some reason know one answers the call! What I see is possibly a shadow of the lettering but if their is metal present this could be a case of Mechanical Doubling. Most collectors call this type of doubling a flaw because it's caused by the die machine parts vibrating causing the the illusion of doubling. The Lincoln cent source might have a list of double dies to look for in 2009. I remember one had doubling in the hands making him look like he has six fingers along with doubling under his feet but as its just in the lettering it's probably Mechanical Doubling. Keep it looks cool if you like it.

Correct. Machine Doubling. Caused by the machine. These strikes will usually be different each strike or even normal. Just depends on how loose the machine is. On a doubled die, the devices on these single squeeze dies will be in the center area of the designs:
LP-2 Reverse DDR

On these LP-1-4 designs, DDR will be on the center area of the reverse designs.

LP-1 reverse DDR:

LP-3 reverse DDR:

The DDR's are in the areas where you are not looking in. Center of the design. Look at the listings to see where you should be looking and what to look for on the DDR's.

CoopHome: Where are the DDR's on the 2009 Lincoln cent DDR's? check the listings to see where to look on each design on the single squeeze dies. best to know what to look for on the single squeeze dies.

Machine Doubling.

Also, we ask that you refrain from taking screenshots for your closeups. They are too pixelated to be of much use. We have a Photography section here on CCF that I am sure would be happy to assist you overcome your dependency on screenshots to make everyone happy.

to the CCF!
