my grandmother used to work for the treasury and she left me a bunch of coins. One roll of 25 Susan b Anthony coins has several coins in a row with damages. I am new to collecting so I can not tell if this is something that happened at the mint or not. the damages are consistent with what appears to look like something hung up in the mint and caused damages to that coin and the next three in the roll. or I could be way off on it all I am wondering if anyone can tell me what may have caused the artists initials on the obverse side to break off like and in a circle pattern scratch it and the reverse side has a big section that looks like the top layer is missing.

Are you talking about the scratch that happens when a coin is rolled by a machine like a circle scratch?
