New here to CoinCommunity. Curious as to thoughts on this. I was thinking higher end of VF. The lettered edge is in nice shape.

I think it's a solid XF, probably XF-45.

i'll go with XF45. it looks like someone rubbed the coin in a couple places down to the original surfaces attempting to get all the grime off.

not sure how a TPG would treat this as a cleaning or not.

XF-details (cleaned). It appears to have been rubbed near the date area, LIBERTY headband, and the talons. Is this coin bent at all looking at it in hand?

An XF-45 should have luster. This looks XF-40 at most, especially considering those unnatural rubs.

it doesn't appear there is any damage from the rubbed areas. I would be inclined to acetone it to see if it removes the crud and makes it less noticeable

XF45. Is the obverse that naturally dark? If so, it is a little concerning. Would like some extra pics.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. To CoinEnthusiast, no it is not bent. I did think the surface was questionable but ultimately wanted a type coin with solid details for an album collection, hence didn't want to breakout a holdered coin. I looked at the apparent rubbed areas under magnification up to 14x and didn't see anything obvious. Have not tried an acetone dip, might do that in the near future.

I'd leave it as is and not attempt even acetone on it. I think the super-dark toning is hiding some areas that would lower eye appeal if made more visible.

This is not a Draped Bust coin, it is a Capped Bust. It has AU level detail and would likely go XF45 as noted above.
