What is this? What caused it? (Especially the S in the first picture... it has an extra bump.)

If it is a zincoln,it is a gas bubble.

As mentioned in many of your other posts, full coin images are requested when posting up coins for review a Merclover stated again.
I also agree with nickel - MD with a plating bubble on the 'S'

I'm leaning toward Die Deterioration as a factor, but need to see full and sharp images of the coin. Thanks.

The left side of Liberty is showing Machine Doubling. Note that area is reduced in size, flattened and showing a 90 degree angle where the contour was removed from the devices. Just a spender. There is not spread, that you would expect to see on a doubled die:

Spread is not present on your coin.
