Extreme die wear and contact marks are present. The size of the devices are normal.

The lines coming off the corners of the letters of IN GOD and WE at an oblique angle are trail lines and are caused by a poor die polishing job.
I don't think they add much value to the coin, but they look really cool.

What about the lines on top of the letters, right vertical of N in IN? Same on GOD? Might be one on the right arm of the W in WE? John1

It diminishes each direction, from WE, were it's strongest but you can still see it. It is pointing the same direction across the face of the coin approximately, 120 degrees, southwest. If you look at the link I provided, you can see it is straight up on we but looks angled, going west and east. It's actually all pointing the same direction on the coins face though, just a different degree than the OP's coin. It's definitely deterioration due to trails.

CoinHI, it is deterioration, enhanced by trails. As it says in the link, deterioration, follows the path of least resistance, the trails are already there and the deterioration, is following them.

Rob, the trails are already there, before deterioration sets in and then the deterioration just follows the trails, accentuating the trails and deterioration.

makecents, in your link it only effects the fields outside of the devices. This effects the devices, like they are simi doubled.

Cujohn, trails affect both the devices and the fields but is usually more prominent and noticeable in the fields, the way the polishing affect both. Here is a good example of a trail die that directly affected the devices. LINK http://goccf.com/t/438956 Here is a definition of trails on Error-Ref.
