1920s Lincoln Wheat cent. I have some pieces of the old blue cardboard books if wheat pennies. First time popping them out and checking the backs. What's your thoughts on this one?

Could be old tymie varnish like they use to use to "protect" coins "back in the day."

100% pure acetone. Read up on it using the search box upper left of page before you use it.

Yes, some form of crud--possibly a died liquid. Try a long soak in 100% acetone.
