I don't think I ever had any of those in my collection but there's a bunch of 15th century Principality of Moscow types that depict (I quote from Numista here) "horseman looking to the right, striking a snake with a spear" that are usually interpreted to be Saint George. (Depictions of horsemen looking to the right striking a snake with a spear do not have to be Saint George, as hilariously illustrated by this CCF discussion of a coin type from Isinda, Pisidia that's about three centuries too old for St. George. In this specific case, however, the identification is likely due to the Moscow connection.) Here's a coin from 1728 that is definitely intended to depict Saint George... Fun fact: the Russian coat of arms technically has a depiction of St. George in the middle! The coat of arms on coins used to be an abbreviated version that skipped this part, but a few years ago (in 2016 apparently) the design was changed to the full version. daltonista Pillar of the Community United States 1058 Posts	Posted 04/25/2024 10:11 pm There's a whole series of British gold and silver bullion coins that depict various modernistic, stylized versions of St. George and the Dragon, and at least one even includes Princess Una. While I don't really collect them, this 2005 sovereign is one of several I've managed to accumulate over the years. I've always thought of these as representing the "Anti-Pistrucci" school of design.
