Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some opinions on a 2022-D Jefferson nickel I recently pulled. I've been examining the obverse under magnification and noticed some distinct extra thickness/distortion on the motto, specifically concentrated on the letters of "GOD".

I've attached three photos below: a cropped macro shot of the motto area, a full obverse shot for date/mintmark context, and a full reverse shot of Monticello.

- Year/Mintmark: 2022-D
- Area of Interest: Obverse motto ("GOD")
- Setup/Lighting: Smartphone capture at 5x magnification under diffused light

I wanted to run this by the experienced variety hunters here to see if this matches any emerging hub doubling varieties for the 2022-D design, or if it leans more toward common modern die deterioration/machine doubling.

Any insights or feedback on whether this warrants a closer look by an attributor would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

To CCF! Looks normal to me. I'm not seeing any extra thickness.

It's hard to say from those photos. The 2022+ nickels do have some distortion type doubled dies. However, Die Deterioration on that series tends to affect the bottom of the lettering more.

Is there any way to get better magnified pictures of the features in question?
