Educational, as always. Although the article focuses on engineering advances in production dies, I would note something else. Despite the tremendous change in technological capability between the early 20th century and our 21st century, almost all aspects of coin striking would remain immediately recognizable to Brenner and Barber. The die geometry changes were really pretty small mathematically (even though they carry longevity and precision consequences in production). Their 20th century approaches to engraving and the machinery of the Mint itself were remarkably advanced, as was their understanding of the physics and materials at their disposal.
