1972 Kennedy Error - Coin Community Forum

Cooper New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 09/15/2006 8:01 pm I have a 1972 Kennedy half that looks like it has a BB under the metal. The reverse side of the coin shows no error that I can see... however the neck area on the front is raised. Thanks in advance Image: Shot Kennedy.jpg 45.29 KB on the front does. This is a very neat type of error, and a rather large bubble! I'd say that you could get $20 for it! Where did you get this? Report this Post to the Staff

This is a strange (weird?) coin, especially if it doesn't have a matching inward BB bulge on the reverse. Are you able to weigh it to determine if that bulge is adding weight? If it is hollow as I suspect it might be, there might have been air or oil trapped between the clad layers. Just a theory. I'll leave it to the more knowledgeable members to speculate beyond this. I started Metal Detecting a few weeks ago & Today I started "roll hunting" This was in one of the rolls of half dollars. I don't have a scale to weigh it on but I can assure you only on the face of the coin is raised. I am definitely going to put this one in the "keep pile" Misti Report this Post to the Staff
