The way I see it is that a cleaned coin might be 'fixed' by being a pocket piece (or at least may have some eye appeal if left alone). However, there is no fixing or living with a hole or scratches like that. I can live with a single scratch on a circulated coin if it is the kind of scratch that might be caused by circulation (as opposed to someone taking a nail to the coin). Holed, polished or coins with a heavy cleaning are not nearly as acceptable, and I will only consider them if they are at an amazingly low price compared to a similar undamaged coin.
