1846 Large Cent Variety Help! - Coin Community Forum

roach Valued Member United States 364 Posts	Posted 05/08/2012 5:44 pm I have 2 large cents that I am going to be selling that I want to make sure are not rare Varieties. I did as much research as I could using PCGS and Heritage (looking at pictures of the rare varieties) but these 2 eluded me.I do not have any of the references for large cents and honestly don't even know where they can be bought at a reasonable price. The first is an 1846 small date, There is what looks like repunching at the bottom of the 1 and 8. Pictures ---- Report this Post to the Staff

I see the repunching, but I don't know this series well enough to comment on if this is a rare or common variety or never previously attritbuted variety. Report this Post to the Staff

roach Valued Member United States 364 Posts	Posted 05/12/2012 01:24 am Thanks Condor, without a reference the only way for me to check a coin is by comparing it to slabbed ones on heritage, but mostly the rarer ones denote N numbers so by elimination I can usually figure out that at least it is not a rare one, but this one I just wasn't sure. Now I can sell it knowing I am not giving away a Million $ coin ! Unless of course it is a million dollar coin and Condor is setting me up so he can cherry it! Report this Post to the Staff
