Info On US Penny-Die Trial? - Coin Community Forum

zookeper New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 01/04/2012 10:25 am * Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. * Howdy, Still learning about coins and found another odd one that I need help with. This is a 2010 US penny. The front of the penny is normal looking, the back as you can see isn't. The shield is only partly imprinted and if you look close you can see United very faint. The coin does not appear to be ground down as the thickness is even. Would this be a die trial penny or adjustment coin? I only put a pic of the back as the front is normal. Any info is greatly appreciated. Love to learn about theodd coins I run across. Report this Post to the Staff

biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 01/04/2012 11:33 am The zinc core is almost completely exposed and there is no reverse rim so that can mean only one thing- someone used a belt sander/grinder/whatever to efface the reverse. Report this Post to the Staff
