Restored Buffalo Nickels And Their Value.

buddy16cat Pillar of the Community United States 1536 Posts	Posted 01/06/2013 6:53 pm I recently bought a lot of Buffalo nickels where there are two restored nickels, 1914s and 1918d. These are better date nickels. How much would the restored dates detract from their value? Numismedia and RedBook say that 1914s is worth $23-26 in good condition and the 1918d is worth $18-$22. They seem more like filler type coins. The lot only has two restored coins out of 20 and they are both better dates. Report this Post to the Staff
mackwork Pillar of the Community United States 652 Posts	Posted 01/07/2013 07:51 am Restored dates generally sell for more than dateless ones, and the rare dates/mint marks can still get a good premium, although never as much as one with a visible date. Report this Post to the Staff
bkprewitt Valued Member United States 157 Posts	Posted 01/07/2013 12:24 pm 10-15% seems about right. I bought a 1918/17 D on ebay for a little over $100 in order to fill the Dansco hole. Numismedia.com lists it as $1,050 in G4. Not sure I'll be able to fill the 1937 3-legged hole as easily. :-( Report this Post to the Staff
