I was going through a bag of halves, when this popped up. I thought it was a carwash token at first, then I saw "ONE CENT"! 1840-Large-Cent-Found-In-The-Wild! 1840-Large-Cent-Found-In-The-Wild!
Needless to say, it's the oldest coin I've ever found in circulation...

That is AWESOME! That is the same year cent that I have that my dad gave me as a small sliver of his collection. Back when he got a bunch of large cents in the 70's they only sold for about 7 bucks a piece. You imagine buying them at that price today? lol

Definitely my oldest find. Is it a large or small date? I think a small date goes for $15-20, right?

I thought it was a large date. I also found a few silver halves including an impaired proof. Perhaps someone raided a collection..
