This is not an easy 1/2Taler to find. I could not find a nice one that was not in a slab. Report this Post to the Staff

And yes the Nurenberg 1/2Taler pays homage to the Canal system that is still used today. Nurenberg is situated on the Pegnitz river and the Rhine- - "Main- - "Danube Canal. There was a canal fire during the Thirty Years War, and some state the coin commemorates fighting the fire. Nurenbergs neighbouring town of Furth was almost completely destroyed. I have not found much in my research on how the fire started. But, there is written history on the fire that almost completely destroyed Furth.
