The dragon-side should, I believe, say the province name (in this case the province is either Kiangsu or Kiangnan) and TEN CASH. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff

The Chinese inscription identifies the coin as having been minted in Jiangsu (Kiangsu) Province (江蘇省) so the "dragon" side will have the English words "KIANG-SOO". In the very middle of the the Chinese side are the Manchu characters pronounced "boo su" which also identifies the mint as being in Jiangsu. These coins are very common. During the period 1901-1906, it is estimated that more than 880 million of these 10 cash coins were produced in Jiangsu. Gary Report this Post to the Staff
